| A key political task in Washington state is creating and preserving opportunities for local, profitable, and sustainable enterprise within the developing industries of alternative energy and sustainable agriculture. The Back to the Roots program is a volunteer-led outreach to spark grassroots discussion on what is at stake in this fast-developing arena. See our EVENTS page for information on our activities this past year. We are now evaluating what we learned during this initial exploration phase, continuing to develop the relationships we have established, and seeking funding to continue this effort with the resources it requires.

"People exploit what they have merely concluded to be of value. But they defend what they love. To defend what we love, we need a particularizing language, for we love what we particularly know."
--Wendell Berry
